Starting Work at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC)
Before attending General Orientation, all DHMC personnel must complete the following:
- Health screening evaluation. Staff and associate providers should call Occupational and Environmental Medicine at (603) 653-3850 to schedule an employee health screening before your start date. Physicians are required to complete the pre-placement questionnaire only.
- Hiring manager check-in. Please touch base with your new supervisor/manager to discuss when and where to report on your second day at DHMC. If you do not have your supervisor's contact information, please call the Recruitment office at (603) 653-0400.
New hire paperwork. Before attending orientation, you must complete your new hire paperwork. You will use the same sign-on that you did when completing your online application.
Your first day
General orientation is held in the auditoriums to the right of the Main Rotunda Information desk and runs from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For details, see the orientation schedule for Staff and Volunteers.

- Parking: Please park in Lot 9 (PDF) and take the shuttle to the medical center.
- ID: Bring approved identification to establish identity and work eligibility. We need to confirm your identity by completing the I-9 form before you start employment.
- Direct deposit: Bring a voided check if you wish to sign up for direct deposit.
- Dining: We will provide refreshments when you arrive.
- Bring money for lunch. Our dining room provides an assortment of menu options. There is an ATM in the Mall area if you forget to bring cash.
- Dress code: Wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the work site. You may want to bring a sweater, or dress in layers, as the temperature in the conference rooms may vary. Please discuss the department-specific dress code with your supervisor.
- Benefits orientation:
- You will receive a packet the morning of your orientation, which will tell you when and where to report to your benefits orientation. This typically occurs on the Wednesday of your first week of employment.
- Physicians and associate providers: Your benefits orientation is held on the second day of orientation. Please refer to the schedules below.
