Hard working, keen, able and eager to learn are all traits that have made Tyler an incredible apprentice at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Tyler started work when he was 16 years old but knew that he wanted to further his education and build upon his skills in order to have a fulfilling career. The Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program provided education, training, college credit, a competitive salary, health benefits and the opportunity for long term career growth. It has been a great launch pad for achieving his education goals.
Tyler feels that that one of the most rewarding aspects of working in the outpatient pharmacy is the camaraderie that exists on his team. In addition, the monthly check-ins enable him to have an open and ongoing dialogue with his supervisor. Tyler appreciates the opportunity to help patients and make a difference in their lives. He also loves when he has the opportunity to delve into an issue that seems nearly impossible to solve, whether it be with insurance or inventory, and find resolution.
The apprenticeship program put the opportunity to work in healthcare and his long term goals for more education within his reach. He obtained the knowledge and skills to take the first step, which in turn gave him the confidence to want more. Apprenticeship programs offered through the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Workforce Readiness Institute are eligible for college credit, and Tyler hopes to add to these credits and complete his associate's degree in allied health in the near future.
