Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Careers
Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) provide primary care for patients within their licensed scope of practice. Although the majority of the work APRNs at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) provide is clinical practice, APRNs are also involved in these highly valued activities:
- Clinical practice
- Professional practice
- Quality improvement
APRNs are licensed by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing and must have passed a national certifying exam in their specialty area before applying for licensure. In addition, all new APRNs must have a master's degree. The majority of advanced practice nurses at D-H are master's prepared.
